Fresh notice to homoeo college

NAGPUR: The Directorate of Ayurved Maharashtra State (DAMS), Mumbai, issued a fresh show-cause notice to

the management of Nagpur College of Homoeopathy and Hospital (NCHH), Azamshah Layout, Great Nag Road,

recently.
 
The notice, a copy of which is with the TOI, has been issued on the High Court directions in the

matter of appointing administrator on the college as per Maharashtra Education Institutions (Management) Act 1976. According

to sources, the show-cause was been issued on March 7.
 

MRDO: Boeing 'not unhappy'

Asst commissioners redesignated as WOs

NAGPUR: After high drama in Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), the additional municipal commissioner Atul

Patne finally issued an order re-designating all assistant commissioners as ward officers (WO).
 
Since last two

years, ward officers were being called assistant commissioners. However, as per regulations such changes cannot be made

without nod of civic body and urban development ministry.
 
A commotion ensued in NMC when a zonal officer

snatched the draft of the order from a clerk and made off. The WOs have been asked to change their

designations.
 

Top Simi leader, Abrar granted bail

NAGPUR: Dr Arif Abrar, top SIMI cadre, who had surrendered before a lower court in January end, had been

granted bail by 10th Ad hoc session judge on Tuesday. Dr Abrar who was lodged in Nagpur central jail after police

interrogation, is expected to be released shortly.
 
Defence lawyer Advocate AM Rizway stated that court found no

incriminating evidence against him, apart from the fact that he was a member of the gang representing the outfit, who were

arrested and charged under unlawful activities (prevention) Act by Sadar police in August 2006.

17 corporators disqualified in a yr

NAGPUR: For the first time in the history of NMC, a sitting mayor along with 16 corporators was

disqualified in a single year after the caste scrutiny and verification committee rejected their claim of belonging to

scheduled tribe category. All these corporators were elected from the wards reserved for ST candidates.
 

Forest official faces probe

NAGPUR: The

deputy commissioner of Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS), Nagpur, has ordered probe against then deputy conservator of

forests (DyCF), Nagpur Forest Division, Naresh Zurmure, for various irregularities in EGS works implemented in the division

during his two-year tenure.
 

NMC lends helping hand to disabled

NAGPUR: Krishna Kumbre's eyes shine with the mere anticipation of getting to play with his friends in the

Municipal Corporation's education department to provide him with a pair of calliper shoes free-of-cost.

NAGPUR: Army is eyeing the naxal-hit Gadchiroli and Gondia districts for recruitment as it considers that a

major manpower bank on account of the sizeable tribal population there can be put into the tough soldier

job.
 
The move is also expected to help residents in this trouble-torn areas for getting into the

mainstream.
Adivasis can be good soldiers due to their living conditions in forests making them adaptable for jungle

operations especially in the North-East.
 

Residents ransack NMC zonal office

NAGPUR: A group of angry residents from east Nagpur ransacked the Lakadganj zone office of Nagpur Municipal

Corporation here on Tuesday afternoon. The residents were protesting against irregular water supply in the area for last one

year.
 
Sources said, "More than 100 residents, including women, of east Nagpur area, reportedly led by Congress

corporator Nana Zode barged into Lakadganj zonal office of NMC at around 12 noon. They smashed glasses, overturned furniture

and damaged office equipment. They even tried to set afire the office furniture."
